7:30 am - 11:00 am
Do not sign up for this event UNLESS you are signing up a youth 12 and under. This is not the adult sprint race which can be found listed on the events page. Adults and youth races are separate registrations.
Come and join us for our first youth race of the season.
- Children need to be supervised by the parent or someone the parent has put in charge of supervising, if the parent is racing the sprint event.
- The youth race will start promptly at 7:30am. We will not delay the race for any parent racing the adult race
- This is a fun time for the kids, we do not time them, they can do as much or as little as they want. Just good “play” time doing swim, bike run.
Registration opens at 6:30am, race starts at 7:30am. Our youth race is either a mini or a double mini.
Mini- 50 yard swim, 2 mile bike, 1/2 mile run
Double Mini- 100 yard swim, 4 mile bike, 1 mile run (Two laps on the mini course.)
For the swim, we have the kids swim parallel to the shore so they may stand up if they have any issues. Sometimes, with the weeds, we put a kayaker in the water and have the kids swim around the kayaker and back. Water wings or other PFD’s are certainly permitted and parental help and supervision are permitted and encouraged. (2nd loop if doing the double)
The bike is an out and back, straight up the South Boulder Beach ramp and a left on the road behind the camping/RV park for a mile and back. Any bike that is operational is fine. Training wheels are okay. Again, parental supervision and assistance is permitted and encouraged. (2nd loop if doing the double)
The run is across the dirt parking lot to the North Boulder Beach ramp, turn left and turn around at 1/4 mile. (2nd loop if doing the double)
This youth race is to foster the love for the sport. We will require a helmet and operational bike, but are pretty relaxed on the rest of the rules. The kids aren’t timed. We will gently remind the kids of USAT rules as they go along and if parents could help, that would be great. For example, no riding your bike in transition. Put your helmet on and clip it before touching your bike, etc. We will not disqualify a kid in violation of these rules, but we will have them correct it.
