Lake Mead National Recreation Center has advised us that June is “Excessive Heat Warning Month.” They told us out of all of the summer months, June records the highest number of warnings. What this means is, we are hoping to get lucky and not have an excessive heat warning in effect for the race. If an excessive heat warning, not advisory but a warning, is in effect our race will be cancelled by park officials. Even if our race is in the early hours before the heat of the day, they will still cancel our event.
The distances are approximately:
Swim- 500 yards
Bike- 12 miles
Run- 3.1 miles
Please rsvp for this event. We have a permit for 100 athletes and this is our busiest race! We offer a beginner transition set up clinic before the race, so if you would like to be a part of that let us know. The average water temperature for June is 72 degrees.
Don’t want to do all three sports? We offer a relay for this event. Get a few friends together and race as a team. Teammates must be members of the club. Please let us know about your relay before the race starts at check-in. Simply have your teammates meet at the team transition spot and transfer the one timing chip to each athlete as they head out for their sport.
We do offer a duathlon for this race: Please let us know you would like this option at check-in. The distances for our duathlon are 1 mile run, 12 mile bike, and 3.1 mile run.
Run- 1 mile
Bike- 12 miles
Run- 3.1 miles
